Development and Progression

Built for development and progression

The 14U program helps prepare players for the next stage of their hockey pathway through coaching, training, team expectations, and competitive game experience.

Athletes are challenged to take ownership of their habits — preparation, recovery, training, school, and their role within the team — so the foundation is in place before stepping up.

Head Coach — 14U AAA Nationals (2026/27)
Mike Cann

Mike Cann brings extensive coaching and player development experience to P3, with more than 15 years as a skills and power skating instructor across levels from U7 through U18 AAA, along with more than 10 years coaching minor hockey from U7 through U18 AAA.

Most recently, Mike served as Head Coach of the U18 PHL Yeti during the 2025/26 season, leading the group to a PHL U18 Championship. His coaching background gives him a strong understanding of both player development and team culture at competitive levels.

As a player, Mike developed through minor hockey in Cochrane with the Bow Valley Timberwolves before continuing with the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA program and the Notre Dame Hounds U18 AAA program. He went on to play in the WHL and represented Team Pacific at the 2005 World Under-17 Hockey Championships.

Mike's coaching philosophy is built around developing strong people and strong team culture first. He believes that when players have the right foundation as people and teammates, their development as athletes becomes stronger and more sustainable.

As Head Coach of the 14U AAA Nationals team for the 2026/27 season, Mike helps athletes build the habits, standards, and competitive foundation required to progress within the P3 Pathway.
